I was talking with my healing buddy Tim last night and this quote came up in our conversation:
You don’t need to leave your room.
Remain sitting at your table and listen.
Don’t even listen, simply wait.
Don’t even wait.
Be quite still and solitary.
The world will freely offer itself to you.
To be unmasked, it has no choice.
It will roll in ecstasy at your feet.
~ Franz Kafka
That’s quite a powerful quote!! I wanted to share it here.
At another point in the conversation Tim was talking about watching kids at church this past Sunday. He was commenting about how kids are focused on one thing - then abruptly (with no apparent stimulus) they change course. Conversation, activity, etc.
It was while he was telling me about the experience of watching that - and his insights about moving (as a child) from a collective integration to individual integration -that I had this insight: The degree to which an adult is not fully integrated is directly related to the degree to which they require/provide/seek distraction in their lives. Said the other way, it’s a much more powerful signpost: The degree to which an adult requires or seeks distraction in their life, is directly related to their lack of integration.
And even more powerful (and positive): The degree to which an adult does not require distraction in their life is directly related to their degree of integration.
An easy way to gain insight and objectively evaluate the degree to which integration has taken place in your life.
Peace!
Ken
