Coming out a bit more (and explaining what I do)

Business of Healing, Questions and Answers Add comments

Wow - it’s been a really interesting couple of weeks.  I’ve discovered an amazing community of energy workers and other super cool folks on twitter.  I haven’t been super active this past week - but my weekends are a great time to participate.  I invite you to participate there too (please post comments here as well!)- my page is www.twitter.com/energy_worker

My big news this past week was a business group that I belong to - sort of a board of directors for small businesses …

We met to do our business plans for 2009. I’ve done energy work on the leader of this group - and talked with her a number of times about my energy work, and desire to be doing this type of work more and more. My deal with her was that I would put together a business plan for ‘09 with my energy work practice. Which would require me to come out to the other members of the group. They all know me in the context of my “day job” which has absolutely nothing to do with spirituality, healing, or energy work.

We ended up making small groups - i was in a group of four. I went first. I was unbelievably emotional when I started telling the group about my energy work - and how it all came to be. Not as a function of seeking it out - going to a school, training, etc. And then I relaxed and started giving them examples of the work that I’ve been doing.

And some really interesting questions came up that I wanted to share here:

Q: “How is it that you don’t have to be with the person you’re working on?”

A: It turns out it’s much more distracting to me (energetically speaking) for me to be with the person I’m working with. I get a much better feel for what’s going on when I’m in a different location. I like to be on the phone but it’s certainly not necessary. I attended a workshop at Naropa in Boulder earlier this year with Alberto Villoldo - the well known Shaman/Author - he referred to it as non-specific locality. Meaning energetically, there’s no difference if you are standing next to me or on the other side of the planet. I’m assuming the same is true if you’re in space.

It’s an amazing thing to be able to experience - working on someone in another part of the planet and being completely plugged in, able to feel every change during the tuning.

Q: “What are you saying to the folks you’re working on, on the phone?”

A: Nothing related to the energy work I’m doing. I don’t say anything for my energy work.  In fact I’ve discovered that when I talk, the person I’m working on - their energy drops. I can feel the disruption when I’m speaking. My healing buddy Tim told me it’s because the work I’m doing is happening at a much higher frequency than speech or thought. An interesting thought.

Q: “What are you going to do with this?”

A: As much as possible! It’s the most rewarding work I’ve ever done. It gives me energy and peace. Watching God work is an extraordinary honor!

There were other questions too … after all was said and done, I felt a great sense of relief. Apparently it’s just a cool thing to be an energy worker. What’s funny to me is that the people closest to me - some family - and a good friend - they’re the ones with the problems with this. Everyone else seems to think it’s an amazing gift.

And it is!

I’m honored you took the time to read. I’d love your feedback.

Peace,

Ken

    Hi Ken

Great post. Many people don’t get it yet, that’s part of the responsibility of the healer, to be a conduit for that knowledge flowing to others.

Non-specific locality is a fairly well known Quantum physics concept and is discussed in many places. (Google it). It works because we are ONE BEING. We are not separate at all. The separation we “see and experience” is purely illusion which is reinforced by the cultural human programming and held in place by the part of our minds we call the “ego identity”.

Experiences of enlightenment are direct experiences of BEING the One Conscious Being. Enlightenment is the experience of all existing as you, not just “understanding” the concept. When you experience absolutely knowledge of all that exists now, has ever existed and will ever exist and find yourself existing everywhere and nowhere at the same time (because time and space are illusions!)- This is Onmiscience, Omnipresence, Omnipotence, descriptions we attribute to God. You will see the birth of sparks of consciousness and the changing of energy states from passive to kinetic back to passive again as the only movement that occurs in the One Consciousness. When experience it all as your body (Your “body” is infinite, and has no boundaries, it goes on indefinitely)- you will know without any question why no “other” is any further than your current thought.

You and I are not separate, we are the same being. It is misleading to call you by one name and me by another. There is only ONE here.

This also explains why you can not harm “another” without harming yourself. Because you *are* harming YOU. There is only ONE.

    Light Blessings, Joy and Love,

    Amy

    Hello Ken,

Clicked through to your site from Twitter. Interesting blog you have here!

I can totally relate to the experiences that you recount in this post - the fear and anxiety I felt when I transitioned from my teaching job to setting up my Akashic Record readings business and had to tell people about it - some of whom were skeptical and still are. I don’t mind though - I have so much fun doing what I do, it’s well worth the funny looks I get sometimes from people who ask the question ‘So, what do you do?’

    Blessings,
    Anna

While I’m very new to this topic and am still up for grabs when it comes to a position on such things, I really appreciate the candor and enthusiasm with which you approach your work. Looking forward to see where you take all this!

    Seth,

Thanks for the kind comments. T

here’s no position to take :) - we’re all living in a world made of energy. We can be aware of it and work with it, or not.

I’m excited to see where I take this too!

    Peace,

    Ken

Congratulations on “coming out” to your business group! Even though I’ve been doing energy healing for years, sometimes in certain crowds it can be difficult to talk about it, especially living in the bible belt!

I’m going to check out twitter on your advice. It sounds like a neat way to connect with folks. Many blessings on your healing career.
